Problem: Most staff members work from multiple sites and need access to their files no matter which location they’re working from.
Solution: We installed a Windows 2003 R2 Server at each of the four locations, set up a VPN between all of the sites and implemented “Distributed File System” which instantly duplicates changed/new files to all servers.
Added benefit: Staff members can continue accessing their files even if their local server is down.
Client: Community Development Financial Institution with one satellite office
Problem: The antiquated network did not have Microsoft Exchange functionality or the ability to give the satellite office full access to their network.
Solution: We upgraded the old Server, added an Exchange Server in order to bring email “in-house,” and installed a Terminal Server allowing the users in the satellite office to access the network at full speed through an inexpensive DSL line.
Added benefit: Users with the appropriate rights can access the network securely from any computer connected to the Internet.
Client: Full-Service National Food Distribution Company
Problem: With multiple fax databases in numerous formats, the marketing department needed a way to consolidate and centralize the databases while being able to send fax broadcasts to specific categories of clients.
Solution: We imported all of the existing databases into a new centralized database and built a front-end application enabling them to query specific categories of clients and initiate a fax broadcast from their desktops with the click of a button.
Added benefit: The database back-end is now hidden from the users thus minimizing user errors, eliminating data theft, and providing granular control on what each user can modify in the database.
